Thomas Tuchel wants his side to take everything up a level against Costa Rica tonight. The England stars will have one last chance to impress the German head coach when the Three Lions take on Costa Rica in Orlando this evening.
The 1-0 win over New Zealand left Tuchel unhappy with their 'freestyle' approach in the first-half, and he will be hoping for a better display tonight, with kick-off at 9pm.
Bukayo Saka Injury Concern
Arsenal star Bukayo Saka is a doubt for the game tonight, with Tuchel confirming the winger has been struggling with an Achilles injury. However, his fellow Arsenal teammates, Declan Rice, Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke are all fit to start, having linked up with the squad late following their Champions League final exploits.
Tuchel said: "We still have to take care a little bit about Bukayo, who had an injury in the March camp and carried it through, of course, into his club campaign. He was available and made himself available in the end of the season, and did this brilliantly, but he was managed in between matches and that continues a little bit at the very moment, so we’re building him up."
Thomas Tuchel's Demand
Tuchel expects a 'push' from his England stars tonight and an increase in intensity against Costa Rica. Other than Bukayo Saka, the Three Lions have no real injury concerns.
"No-one needs a break, everyone is available," Tuchel said. "That’s the very good news. No-one was injured, no complaints, after the first match. One day for recovery, two good training sessions and ready to give it a push tomorrow. Push means more than 45 minutes – players will play 60, maybe some 70."
Tuchel has hinted at a strong starting XI and says the core group of players will play around an hour tonight, as they ramp up their preparations for the World Cup opener against Croatia next week.
