Carlos Alcaraz has kept his promise to celebrate his 2025 US Open victory by getting two new tattoos, seemingly going against his parents' wishes. The Spanish tennis star, who won his sixth Grand Slam title in September by defeating Jannik Sinner in four sets, used a portion of his £3.7 million prize money to add the Statue of Liberty and Brooklyn Bridge to his collection.
The 22-year-old revealed the new ink on his right arm via social media shortly before Christmas, captioning the post 'My week lately.' The designs join an expanding collection that includes a strawberry for his 2023 Wimbledon win, an Eiffel Tower for his 2024 French Open triumph, and the date of his first US Open victory in 2022.
Alcaraz had previously assured his parents he would only get tattoos after winning a tournament for the first time, but he has since broken that promise. After his Roland Garros victory last year, he admitted, 'I told my parents just to calm them that it was just the first one in every major. But this is a really big moment.'
Following his US Open win, Alcaraz stated his intention to get two tattoos: 'I had a bet at the beginning of the tournament: the Brooklyn Bridge, and obviously the Statue of Liberty. I'm gonna do both. And the date. Because this one is special. I have to get a tattoo twice.'
Alcaraz also sports the letters CCC on his forearm, standing for 'cabeza, corazon y cojones' (head, heart and balls), a tribute to his grandfather. He had previously considered getting Olympic rings tattooed if he won gold in Paris, but Novak Djokovic defeated him in the final.
