Sinner apologises as he withdraws from Shanghai Masters

Jannik Sinner has apologised to fans after withdrawing from the Shanghai Masters. The ATP World No. 1 announced the news on Instagram, confirming he will not compete in the tournament, which is scheduled to take place from October 10 to 18.

Apology to Shanghai fans

In a statement posted to his Instagram account, Sinner expressed his regret at missing the event. He wrote: "Unfortunately, I won't be able to play at the Rolex Shanghai Masters this year as I had hoped. I always enjoy playing in front of the Shanghai fans and I'm very sorry that I won't be able to do so next week. Thank you for all your support. I'm looking forward to seeing you again next year."

No reason given for withdrawal

The Italian star did not provide a specific reason for his withdrawal in the statement. The announcement comes ahead of the tournament, which is part of the ATP Tour's Asian swing.

Fans who had hoped to see Sinner compete in Shanghai will now have to wait until next year for his return to the event.
