LA28 Board Backs Wasserman After Epstein Links Scrutiny

The LA28 board has reaffirmed its support for chairman Casey Wasserman after his name appeared in recently released government files relating to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The board's executive committee met on Wednesday to discuss the matter and subsequently issued a statement confirming Wasserman's position is secure.

Wasserman has not been accused of any wrongdoing in connection with Epstein. However, documents released by the US Justice Department revealed that in 2003 he exchanged flirtatious emails with Ghislaine Maxwell, who was later convicted for her role in Epstein's sex trafficking network.

LA28 said it conducted a review of Wasserman's past interactions with Epstein and Maxwell, with Wasserman's full cooperation and with assistance from an outside legal firm. The executive committee stated: 'We found Mr Wasserman's relationship with Epstein and Maxwell did not go beyond what has already been publicly documented.'

The committee added: 'Based on these facts, as well as the strong leadership he has exhibited over the past ten years, Mr Wasserman should continue to lead LA28 and deliver a safe and successful Games.'
