Viddal Riley to defend European title against Seydi Coupe

Viddal Riley will defend his European cruiserweight title against Seydi Coupe next month. The Londoner won the belt six months ago when he outpointed Mateusz Masternak in a dominant display on the undercard of Deontay Wilder vs Derek Chisora.

World title hopes on hold

Riley had hoped that victory would propel him straight into a world title shot, but instead he will put his strap on the line at Wembley Arena on November 20. His clash tops a bill which also features Zelfa Barrett vs Gavin Gwynne, Yaser Al Ghena vs Ben Marksby, Tom Welland vs Jack Dillingham and Dan Toward vs Jak Corrie.

Riley promises statement performance

Riley said: “It’s Main Event Season. It’s taken 14 wins and three professional titles to make it here and I look forward to owning the moment. I am defending what’s mine as the EBU European champion and I will put on a statement performance to show why I’m mandatory for the IBF, ranked No.7 Ring Magazine and Top 10 in three of the major world governing bodies.”

Kalle Sauerland, co-founder of MF PRO, added: “The Rilist returns to headline a massive Saturday Fight Night on November 14, live only on DAZN – and the fight is a banger! Viddal could easily have waited patiently for his shot at the IBF world title but off the back of his Mateusz Masternak masterclass, he wanted to keep the show on the road by taking on his mandatory challenger. Coupe is unbeaten and dangerous, but Viddal is a world-champion-in-waiting and we’re expecting a big win, live on DAZN.”

Champion must defend

Amer Abdallah, MF PRO President said: “A champion isn’t defined by just winning the belt, but by defending it. On November 14, Viddal Riley will have the opportunity to do exactly that and prove once again why he is the number one cruiserweight in Europe and deserves a world title opportunity. This isn’t just about defending what he’s earned—it’s about making a statement that Viddal Riley is one of the best cruiserweights on the planet.”
