Jasper Stuyven, one of Tim Merlier's lead-out men at Soudal-Quick Step, spoke after a chaotic finish to the stage. He described the finale as “hectic,” noting that Astana had timed their move well, at least from his team's perspective.
Hectic Finale and Corner Mishap
“We got a bit swamped on the corner with 2.4km to go,” Stuyven said. He expressed uncertainty whether Merlier was following him at that point, but praised his teammate’s instinct: “He is super good at feeling the right moment. He did it once again.”
Confidence and Team Support
Stuyven conveyed his satisfaction with his current form and the backing he receives. “I’m feeling happy, performing, feeling supported … they [the team] trust me, they give me confidence,” he stated.
Prospects for Tomorrow
When asked if he could race for the stage win tomorrow, Stuyven replied, “I think that’s the plan, yes,” though he appeared less than thrilled at revealing that information.
