Sean Dyche has been tipped for the Rangers and Celtic jobs. The former Burnley and Nottingham Forest boss has been out of work since leaving Forest in February.
Dyche won six of his 18 Premier League games with Forest last season, leaving the club 17th in the table after helping to lift the team out of the drop zone. He has taken charge of 350 games in the English top flight during his coaching career.
Bardsley backs Dyche for Scotland
Former Burnley star Phil Bardsley, who played under Dyche for five seasons and also spent time on loan at Rangers, believes his old boss would flourish in Scotland if given a chance at either of the Old Firm clubs.
“I’d love to see Sean Dyche come to Rangers of course but obviously you’d need to get him off social media first before he considers another job,” he joked. “When the right thing comes along that’s a good fit for him, he’ll take a look at it,” Bardsley told Casinolyze. “He’s obviously been at Nottingham Forest and took on the Everton job so right now I think he’s enjoying time away from the game and making the most of all those payoffs, because he’s put all that work into his craft over the last 15 years coaching and managing. He deserves it.”
Old Firm managerial changes
Celtic initially called upon Martin O’Neill after parting ways with Brendan Rodgers last October. He was then briefly replaced by Wilfried Nancy, whose stint lasted just 33 days, before the veteran coach returned in January. The 74-year-old has since signed a one-year deal with an option for another 12 months.
Rangers sacked Russell Martin just four months into his reign last October, with Danny Rohl taking charge until leaving for Red Bull Salzburg in June. Former Hearts coach Derek McInnes was named Rohl’s successor later that month, signing a three-year deal.
“I think he comes across really well too in the media and it looks like he’s enjoying himself with it and I bet he’s enjoying some time with his family too, and why shouldn’t he? But if something like the Celtic or Rangers job popped up, I think he'd certainly take a view on it.”
