Tony Docherty's reign as Scotland U21 boss begins tonight with the visit of Azerbaijan at Rugby Park.
The former Dundee manager replaced long-time U21s gaffer Scot Gemmill in the summer and takes over a team that have once again failed to qualify for the U21 European Championships.
Group B standings
The Scots sit fourth in Group B with 11 points from their eight matches and with two matches remaining are unable to catch the Czech Republic in second spot, who have racked up 18 points.
It's been 30 long years since our nation last appeared at the tournament, claiming a fourth place finish in the 1996 finals.
New coaching team
But for Docherty, it's all about the future and trying to get off to a solid start.
He has bolstered his coaching team with the addition of Steven Naismith as his number two, who was a key background figure under former Scotland senior boss Steve Clarke.
And Kilmarnock's Rugby Park is the venue for the start of this new era.

Rising duo Findlay Curtis and James Wilson have been included in Sebastien Pocognoli's squad for the ongoing Nations League fixtures but both have been given the greenlight to line up for Docherty tonight.
After battling the Azerbaijani's, Scotland will round off their campaign with a trip to Bulgaria on Sunday.
