Scotland new boy Robbie Ure believes he can be the answer to the new-look national team's striking dilemma. With World Cup frontmen Lawrence Shankland and Che Adams both missing the upcoming raft of Nations League fixtures through injury, new gaffer Sebastien Pocognoli is looking at fresh options.
Fresh faces in attack
Pocognoli has handed Oli McBurnie a recall after the Hull striker's five-year cap exile. He is also casting an eye over new Sevilla striker Ure after a stunning 18-month stint in Sweden with IK Sirius.
The 22-year-old hopes to make his debut against Slovenia in Ljubljana on Saturday. Asked if he backs himself to fire the goals for his country, he said: "Yeah, of course.
Ure's ambition
"I think if I was to say otherwise it would be a bit strange. I want to play as much as I can.
"And, of course, I want to be the striker that's scoring goals for Scotland.
"But first I need to get on the pitch. So we'll see. I think that's looking quite far away at the moment.
"I'm just trying to make sure that I'm working hard here in front of the new gaffer and trying to get any opportunity that I can to play for my country."
Among eight uncapped youngsters
Ure is among eight uncapped youngsters hoping to win their first senior honours. He said: "It's been good meeting everyone. I knew quite a few of the boys from coming through Rangers and then from the younger camps as well.
"I know quite a few people, but it's been good. I've trained twice now. Just trying to learn as much as we can in a short space of time about what the gaffer is trying to implement. It's been enjoyable."
