Rio Ngumoha among Europe's most valuable teenage players

Liverpool's Rio Ngumoha has been named among the most valuable teenage players in European football, according to the CIES Football Observatory. The recently turned 18-year-old sits 11th on the list with a valuation of £53.6m, following his breakthrough at the club and recent senior England debut.

Top of the list

Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal leads the way, valued at £323.1m, having established himself as one of the outstanding players of his generation. His emergence at the Catalan club echoes that of Lionel Messi, though the teenager is building a reputation of his own.

Barcelona team-mate Pau Cubarsi is second at £152.9m, less than half of Yamal's figure. Chelsea winger Estevao is third at £103.1m, with part of that valuation likely attributable to the seven years remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge.

Premier League presence

The Premier League is the most heavily represented division among the 19 players listed, with eight young talents included. Real Madrid's Yan Diomande, a former Liverpool target, features fourth at £102.7m, while Bayern Munich's Lennart Karl rounds out the top five at £102.2m.

Barcelona's Marc Bernal (£78.2m) is sixth, ahead of Manchester City's Ayyoub Bouaddi (£77.6m), despite City paying £86m to lure him from Lille this summer. Real Madrid's Franco Mastantuono, on loan at Fiorentina, is eighth at £65m, having nearly doubled his worth since joining from River Plate in 2025.

Ngumoha's rise

Aston Villa's Ibrahim Mbaye (£63.1m) is ninth, and Brighton's Luka Vuskovic (£60.6m) completes the top 10. As for Ngumoha, after breaking through last season, he is going from strength to strength, having recently made his senior England debut.

CIES takes into account factors such as age, position, remaining contract length and quality to establish overall transfer value. Teenage footballers are commanding increasingly high valuations as Europe's leading clubs invest record sums in emerging talent.
