World number one Scottie Scheffler will attempt to become the first back-to-back Open champion since Ernie Els in 2012. Scheffler won the 153rd Open at Royal Portrush in 2025 by four shots, displaying a masterful performance. No player has successfully defended the title in 14 years.
Royal Birkdale: A Test for the Best
Royal Birkdale is renowned for its challenging sand dunes and dramatic layout. Champions here include Peter Thomson (twice), Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino, Johnny Miller, Tom Watson, and Jordan Spieth.
