Former North Macedonia international Igor Gjuzelov has called on head coach Goce Sedloski to resign before Saturday's Nations League meeting with Scotland in Skopje.
Scotland, under Sebastien Pocognoli, have had a difficult start to their campaign. They drew 0-0 away to Slovenia before losing 3-0 to Switzerland at Hampden, where Jack Hendry was sent off after 11 minutes. If Scotland fail to score within the first 25 minutes in Skopje, they will set an unwanted record for the longest goal drought in 154 years.
Hosts' struggles
North Macedonia's problems are more severe. They have not won in their last 10 matches in all competitions and have gone 607 minutes without scoring.
Gjuzelov, who earned 18 caps during a playing career that included spells at Shakhtar Donetsk, Hajduk Split and Cercle Brugge, said Sedloski should step aside before the situation worsens.
Call for change
He said: "He should be honest with himself and resign immediately. With every passing day and with every statement he makes, he's sinking deeper."
"It's simply not worked out and it's very obvious the players have no belief in him either. Our Federation is in freefall too. We are getting worse and worse and there is no leadership."
"Even if Sedloski does go, it won't get any better for the next guy."
"We don't have the quality of players to make an impression or the depth to improve."
"Let's be honest with ourselves, currently we are at the same level as Armenia, Cyprus, Malta, Georgia, Bulgaria, Liechtenstein, Kazakhstan, Gibraltar, Estonia, Latvia...that is the reality for us at the moment."
"And there is no optimism looking forward that we will get any better any time soon."
