Newcastle United are now under a week away from returning to Premier League action when they make the trip to face Coventry City on Monday evening.
It will have been 23 days since Newcastle beat Hull City when they take to the pitch at the Coventry Building Society Stadium in what has felt like a never-ending international break and the Magpies have been watching on nervously as their star players have represented their countries.
Final day of international duty
Tuesday marks the final day of matches in the international window with four of United's first team players set to be in action ahead of returning to training on Thursday.
Lewis Hall will look to continue his fine form for both club and country this season when England take on Czechia at Wembley Stadium this evening, which could see him come up against Newcastle team-mate Lukas Hornicek, who the Magpies will hope come through unscathed given the hamstring injury suffered by fellow goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen while representing France's under-21 side.
Meanwhile, Sean Steur, who has enjoyed an excellent start to the season since joining the club from Ajax, is set to be involved in a do or die game for the Netherlands' under-21s side against Bosnia and Herzegovina, as they look for the win that could keep alive their hopes of qualifying for next summer's European Championships.
Other returnees and injury updates
Aladji Bamba's France have already booked their ticket in the competition and the 20-year-old midfielder, who has struggled for game-time this season, will look to make his third successive start for his country's under-21 side in his bid to get some more valuable minutes in his legs.
Matias Fernandez-Pardo concluded his international break with Belgium on Monday and will be heading back to Newcastle imminently, while Malick Thiaw concluded his responsibilities with Germany on Sunday.
Bazoumana Toure wrapped up his commitments with Ivory Coast on Saturday, while Yoane Wissa came through his two matches with DR Congo unscathed eight days ago.
Jaouen, of course, picked up an injury which may rule him out of the trip to the Midlands but Lewis Miley's injury that ruled him out of England under-21s' matches against Slovakia and Ireland is not thought to be serious and he is expected to be involved in Monday's game.
