Club de Padel, Manchester's first outdoor padel club, has applied to build a new venue at Mayfield Park, months after leaving its original Deansgate Square location due to a city centre skyscraper development.
The plans include a covered five-court club, a cafe bar, and additional space for events throughout the year. If approved, the venue will sit within the park beneath the arches of Depot Mayfield, near the children's playground.
Return to Manchester after Deansgate Square departure
Club de Padel opened at Deansgate Square three years ago, featuring four panoramic courts, a bar, and a shop. The space was forced to close at the start of the year as construction began on Renaker's luxury skyscraper district, which will consist of five buildings.
The club's co-owner, Lucy Noone-Blake, said the team was "beyond excited" to have found its Manchester home at Mayfield Park. She praised the regeneration of the Mayfield district and the Mayfield Partnership for understanding the club's vision.
A 'brilliant addition' to the park
Hen Nowne, Development Director at Landsec, speaking on behalf of the Mayfield Partnership, called Club de Padel "a brilliant addition to Mayfield Park" and said the club "brings another burst of energy to Mayfield" and feels like a natural fit.
Outside of sport, Club de Padel has a clothing collaboration with local brand UN:IK, with its seventh collection recently launched, and has partnered with M&S on a childrenswear range.
