Man Utd injury news: Baleba, Mainoo, Rashford latest for Spurs

Manchester United return to Premier League action this weekend against Tottenham, and manager Michael Carrick has several injury concerns to assess after the international break.

The Red Devils have won just one of their opening five league matches, beating newcomers Ipswich Town. Their only other win across all competitions came against Sabah FK in the Champions League, with pressure mounting on Carrick.

Baleba and Mainoo boost

Carlos Baleba, a summer signing, is yet to play for United. He was an unused substitute at Fulham last time out but played in a behind-closed-doors friendly during the break, so he could make his debut against Tottenham.

Kobbie Mainoo came off during the Fulham match and did not join up with the England squad thereafter. He should be back in time for Tottenham.

Rashford and Amad updates

Marcus Rashford was also substituted at Craven Cottage. Carrick said post-match: "We had to bring him off, as he had a bit of an issue. I'm not sure [if he's alright]." It would be a surprise if he isn't in the squad for Saturday.

Amad is expected to return to the fold after starting the season with a knock. The Ivorian, who shone at the World Cup, hasn't played at all this season but is believed to have fully recovered and will look to build up match fitness.

Dorgu and Mazraoui doubts

Patrick Dorgu went on international duty but lasted just 30 minutes before being subbed off with a suspected thigh injury. It's unknown whether he'll return for the weekend clash at Old Trafford.

Noussair Mazraoui came off midway through one of Morocco's matches during the break and will undergo a fitness test ahead of the Spurs match.

Benjamin Sesko picked up an injury during last month's Carabao Cup tie and opted to focus on his recovery instead of going on international duty. His injury isn't believed to be serious.

Long-term absentees

Manuel Ugarte suffered a knee ligament injury at the World Cup and is expected to be out for some time. Matthijs de Ligt hasn't played for United this year due to a serious back injury, but it is hoped he will return before 2027. Carrick said: "Matta is just working his way back, really. So I don't want to, because of how it's been, put too much of a timeframe on it."

Karl Darlow had a minor operation during the off-season and should be back later this month, while Tom Heaton hasn't been involved in a matchday squad yet.
