Livramento and Ramsey set for Newcastle return

Tino Livramento has been handed his Newcastle United return date after a month out with a muscle injury. The England full-back is expected to be joined by former Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey, who is set to be in contention for the trip to Crystal Palace after a thigh injury suffered in the warm-up at Leeds United last month.

Livramento was rocked by an injury suffered in training when he complained of "discomfort" on the eve of the game against Hull City and was forced to miss England duty for the UEFA Nations League autumn series.

Caution over Livramento's return

Speaking about Livramento, Newcastle boss Jaissle said: "With Tino, we need to be also cautious and paying attention that it’s nothing where we hurry up."

"You know about his injury situation and history in the past, but we are optimistic that also in the next weeks we'll bring him back, but slowly and step by step."

Ramsey making progress

When speaking about £43m man Ramsey, who was pictured in light training last week, the Newcastle boss said: "With JJ I think it's a bit different, he's making progress now much more, a little bit like Anthony Elanga, hopefully also next week he can join in partially in the training and then we build it from there."

Speaking in the aftermath of the 4-1 loss to Coventry City, Jaissle again wanted to re-iterate he is working with a younger squad. And it will take time to get the project fully up and running this season.

Learning from mistakes

Jaissle said: "We made too many individual mistakes, so these things we need to avoid, otherwise you get punished in this league."

"Even though we're a young squad, we need to learn fast. This is the message now to the players. As individuals but also as a group, to avoid these things, and then I'm sure we'll be back on the right track straight away."
