Newcastle United head coach Matthias Jaissle has thanked fans for helping him settle quickly into life on Tyneside and accepts that there will be few quiet chapters during his stint in charge.
Jaissle settles into life on Tyneside
Jaissle has now checked out of the Dakota Hotel on the Quayside and found a place in the city. While he has not had much time to relax, aside from some visits to the region's hot spots such as Tynemouth beach and Riley's Fish Shack, he can feel the warmth and hospitality of the area. Jaissle even went viral after paying for a meal for a group of supporters after the recent 2-1 win over Hull City.
Jaissle said: "It's crazy how everything comes out. They ask for a picture, and you think 'They will just keep it for themselves'.
Fans' passion and respect
"It's crazy, but I really love the fans here and the people. They're passionate but have a good sense of allowing you to keep your privacy and your distance. They're respectful and ask if they can get a picture. They're just good people."
Jaissle still has another 11 days before Newcastle's next Premier League encounter against Coventry City at the Coventry Building Society Arena as he looks to keep the Magpies in the top 10. His only taste of defeat so far came after the 4-1 defeat to Leeds United at Elland Road.
The former Hoffenheim centre-back said: "I got a bit of a chance when I went two or three times to restaurants in the city. So then you get, of course, an impression, again how passionate they are, the fans. So far I only went after a win."
Preparations continue
Jaissle has been putting his non-international stars through their paces at the KNOX this week with the likes of Sven Botman, Joelinton and Nico Gonzalez among those getting on with work during the unprecedented international break.
He is expected to add the likes of Dan Burn, Jacob Ramsey and Lewis Miley to the mix next week ahead of preparations for Coventry.
