The second day of Glorious Goodwood features the week's highlight, the Visit Qatar Sussex Stakes. Unbeaten Bow Echo renews his rivalry with Aidan O'Brien's Gstaad, but both face the classy older horse Opera Ballo. Supporting races include the Molecomb Stakes for speedy juveniles. Chief Tipster Jason Heavey, winner of the Racing Post Press Challenge and Naps Table in 2023, provides his verdict on all seven races.
1.50 Coral Rewards Shaker Handicap
Hatteen is fancied to continue his rise in this race. Andrew Balding's colt, a son of Lope De Vega, holds a St Leger entry and needs an impressive win to keep that Classic dream alive. He impressed when winning a novice event at Doncaster 20 days ago and makes his handicap debut off a lenient mark of 88. With Oisin Murphy aboard, he is expected to beat Infraad and Bay Royale. Cannes, favourite in the King George V Handicap at Royal Ascot, never landed a blow but Dylan Browne McMonagle should position him closer to the pace. Tierra Del Toro needs to relax for James Doyle, Baltic Fleet looks overpriced at 16-1, and Parisian Scholar (25-1) offers each-way appeal after recent wins at Thirsk and Newmarket.

2.25 British Stallion Studs EBF Alice Keppel Fillies’ Stakes
Zigazig Ah can land a second big pot in 11 days. Richard Spencer's filly won the Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury, showing terrific pace from the start, having previously won on debut at Yarmouth. This is her toughest test, but the rapid track should suit Saffie Osborne's mount, and at 8-1 she is a sporting punt. Wild Blossom makes the market after fading late in the Queen Mary Stakes. Hidden Gift ran well in the Albany Stakes and has a serious chance, while Fast Track (5-1) is overpriced under Oisin Murphy. Divine Whisper won her maiden with authority and may improve to sneak a place at 11-1.

3.00 Rolls-Royce Oak Tree Stakes
Planet Seeker has everything aligned in this Group Three contest. The inexperienced three-year-old faces higher-rated rivals on official ratings, but Ralph Beckett's daughter of Blue Point impressed on her latest run at Newmarket, showing a striking turn of foot. Jamie Spencer rode her to victory, and she also won on debut at Goodwood last year, loving fast ground. Despite being the lowest-rated three-year-old, she has the most upside. Zanthos drops in class after two Group Ones but must recapture two-year-old form. Sayidah Dariyan, stepping up to seven furlongs on Ryan Moore's advice, Flora Of Bermuda, and Dash Of Azure form a formidable older trio.

3.35 Veuve Clicquot Molecomb Stakes
Adonius can give trainer Becky Menzies and jockey Kaiya Fraser a big day. The unbeaten speedster has a perfect three-from-three record, winning twice at Musselburgh then making all in the Lily Agnes Stakes at Chester, where he gave 5lb and a beating to Hickory Lad. Sidestepping Royal Ascot may prove wise. Victory would qualify him for the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint. El Floridita, second in the Norfolk Stakes, should go well, while Ruler's Pride and Flight Signal aim to bounce back from disappointing Ascot runs. Pershaada was fourth at Ascot, and Sale Shark (8-1) with Oisin Murphy can hit the frame after an impressive debut and fifth in the Windsor Castle.

4.10 Visit Qatar Sussex Stakes
Opera Ballo can gatecrash the clash of Classic titans. Bow Echo and Gstaad renew their personal duel, with George Boughey's colt leading 2-0. But Opera Ballo, a talented older horse, has improved this year, winning the bet365 Mile and then running third in the Queen Anne Stakes after trying to make all into a strong headwind. Goodwood suits him, though he may not get his own way up front with Aidan O'Brien deploying pacemakers Dorset and Puerto Rico. Unbeaten Bow Echo (five from five) has beaten Gstaad in the 2000 Guineas and St James's Palace Stakes, with a short-head at Ascot. Ten Bob Tony, a 50-1 shock at Royal Ascot, looks overpriced at 12-1 for a place, and Zavateri (16-1) also has place claims after 102 days off.

5.00 Coral Charlton Handicap
Calling A Star gets the vote in a tough puzzle. Richard Hughes's filly has won twice this season over six furlongs, producing a career best at Newmarket last time despite not quite seeing out seven furlongs. The drop back in trip should suit, and with Will Buick taking the reins and a decent draw in 17, 14-1 is a fair price. Tex (16-1) enters after a recent Ascot victory, while Velvet Rhythm is consistent. Vingegaard is interesting at 16-1, and Supreme King, second in his last three, should be in the money. Sargent Dennis, returning from a break at Doncaster with a sighter run, at 14-1 will carry each-way hopes with bookies paying five or six places.

5.40 HKJC World Pool Handicap
Oliver Show can take centre stage for George Boughey and Billy Loughnane. The 10-1 shot has posted two fair efforts this season, and his handicap rating has slipped to an attractive perch. He was beaten in the 2025 Lincoln off 95 and gets in off 89, so Loughnane can challenge fast and late. The Liffey, winner five times in Ireland before winning his first start for Hayley Burton, looks well treated at the bottom of the weights. Goldmoyne, up 24lb from a 65 rating after four wins, is a big player at this track. Rhoscolyn wants softer ground, so better options are Crimson Spirit and Bobby Bennu, both well supported. Pellitory is a good each-way punt at 10-1 for David O'Meara and Danny Tudhope.
