Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will finally meet in the ring on Friday, December 11, 2026, after years of failed negotiations. The bout, confirmed as the biggest in British boxing history by some, will take place at Cardiff's Principality Stadium, which has a capacity of 74,500.
The fight is for the vacant WBA super heavyweight world title, left open by Oleksandr Usyk. No fight times have been confirmed, but it is expected that the main event will start in the early hours UK time to suit US television audiences. Joe Calzaghe set a precedent in November 2007 when his bout with Mikkel Kessler began at 1am.
Venue and Broadcast Details
Joshua has fought at the Principality Stadium twice before, against Carlos Takam and in a unification bout with Joseph Parker. The fight will be shown worldwide on the streaming platform Netflix.
The first pre-fight press conference is scheduled for Wednesday, September 30. An undercard will be announced at a later date, which organisers have described as "star studded."
Long Road to the Fight
Talks over the pair facing each other first began in 2020, when the basis of a two-fight deal was agreed. Contracts were signed in 2021 for an undisputed heavyweight contest, but an arbitration case brought by American Deontay Wilder meant Fury was obligated to fight him for a third time instead.
Joshua accepted a deal that would see Fury take a 60-40 split of the purse, but that also fell by the wayside. Fury's record stands at 36-2-1, while Joshua's is 30-4-0.
