Tyson Fury has described his blockbuster fight with Anthony Joshua as a 'stepping stone' and claims he will fight Oleksandr Usyk for a third time in 2027.
Earlier this week, it was finally confirmed that Fury will fight Joshua at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on Friday, December 11. The biggest fight in the history of British boxing is scheduled to start in the early hours of the Saturday morning with Netflix keen to cater for the American audience.
Fury's plans after Joshua
Fury, who won both of his fights this year against Mariusz Wach and Arslanbek Makhmudov, will be facing Joshua for the first time in his career with the WBA 'super' heavyweight title also on the line. However, Fury believes he will make light work of Joshua and is already planning a trilogy with Usyk in the United States in March.
'What do I think of him [Joshua] as a fighter? He's alright. He's a heavyweight boxer, I'm just going to knock him out, 100 per cent,' he told FurociTV. 'I'm going to box the head off him and stop him inside six, seven rounds.
Fury's comments on Joshua
'I'm only using Joshua as a stepping stone, a warm-up to Usyk.
'Joshua, for me, is an old dossing bum, a weightlifter. Too many weights, not enough speed, too many weights, no cardio. I'll cut through him like a hot knife through butter.
'I want Usyk, I want him in America though, where I get a fair decision. I won the first two fights and I'll definitely get a decision here where it's fair.
'Listen, I'm only using AJ as a heavy bag. I'll punch the f*** out of him and then move on to Usyk. AJ will give me a good warm-up before March next year.'
