Andre Agassi jokingly told Carlos Alcaraz to keep the noise down during a courtside interview at the Laver Cup, as the Spaniard practised his serve in the background.
Agassi's playful request
The American was conducting media duties with The Sports Agents at the O2 Arena when Alcaraz's grunts became audible. Gabby Logan, who was leading the interview, noted that she had "never heard Agassi raise his voice" before his request.
"You want to talk about intimidating me right now. I mean, geez," said Agassi, before adding: "Hey, can you keep it down a little bit with that serve?"
Alcaraz's response
Alcaraz, 23, eventually took notice of the eight-time major-winner's protests as Agassi repeated in jest: "Keep it down, huh? It's too noisy." The former world No. 1 fired back: "If you tell me it's too noisy when I serve, it's a problem, to be honest with you. I'm trying to be noisy with the serve."
Agassi responded with a smile: "I love it! Keep bringing it, I love it."
Laver Cup context
Alcaraz has helped spark the Tim Henman-coached Team Europe into life in London this weekend after two wins in as many days. He first teamed up with Jakub Mensik in the doubles to dispatch Taylor Fritz and Alexander Bublik before beating Fritz in a singles matchup on Saturday.
His final test will be a singles showdown against Team World representative Alex de Minaur on Sunday afternoon. Team Europe holds a narrow 7-5 lead heading into the final day, where they need to win just two of the four remaining matches to secure the title.
Agassi, a seven-time Grand Slam champion, was previously part of the Team Europe squad that lifted the Laver Cup in 2024. He later lost to Fritz in a singles match as Team World took the crown last year, but Alcaraz has already had his revenge this time around.
