Yaya Toure has launched a fresh attack on his former manager Pep Guardiola, branding him "a snake" in an explosive interview on the ZACK YouTube channel. The 42-year-old former Manchester City midfielder, who played under Guardiola at both Barcelona and City, reignited their long-standing feud with a series of scathing remarks.
Toure recounted his experience of being called back to Barcelona by Guardiola after the 2010 World Cup, despite being sidelined for much of the previous season. "I don't see a man, I see a snake," Toure said. "The Barcelona coach calls me back then and says, 'You have to come back, it's important.' My wife says to me, 'Are you going to listen to that nonsense? He treated you like dirt, and now he wants you to stay, and you're going to stay? Let's go to Manchester, my brother.'"
Toure left Barcelona for Manchester City in 2010, reuniting with Guardiola when the Catalan took over at the Etihad in 2016. Toure struggled for regular starts in his final two years at City and later accused Guardiola of having "problems with Africans," though he claimed he was misquoted and apologised. His latest comments come after expressing a desire to end the feud in 2022, when he told The Times: "I wish to see him. I will be delighted."
Guardiola has since led City to six Premier League titles and a Champions League triumph, while Toure left the club in 2018 after winning two league titles under him.
