USA Crush Canada 12-1 in World Baseball Classic as Great Britain Secure First Win

The United States bounced back from a defeat to Mexico with a dominant 12-1 victory over Canada in the World Baseball Classic on Monday night. The game was called after seven innings due to the tournament's 10-run mercy rule, following a nine-run first inning from the Americans.

Mike Trout hit a three-run homer to cap the first-inning rally, while Nolan Arenado added a two-run double. Starting pitcher Lance Lynn threw five impressive innings, allowing just one run and two hits, saving the bullpen for the team's final pool play game against Colombia.

Canada's only run came from a solo home run by Jared Young. Left-hander Mitch Bratt took the loss, giving up six earned runs while recording just one out.

In other action, Great Britain secured their first-ever win at the World Baseball Classic with a 7-5 victory over Colombia. Jaden Rudd hit a go-ahead, two-run double in the fifth inning, and Harry Ford added a solo homer to seal the win.

Puerto Rico also routed Israel 10-0 in a game called after eight innings due to the mercy rule. José De León and three relievers combined for a perfect game, though it will not count in official WBC records because the game did not go the full nine innings.
