Celtc defender Auston Trusty has insisted there is no room for complacency in the dressing room after the Hoops' 3-0 first-leg victory over LASK at Parkhead, with the Champions League play-off tie still far from over.
The Scottish champions were given a scare inside 28 seconds when Moses Usor found the net, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside. Samuel Adeniran also had a header disallowed shortly afterwards, with the offside flag twice coming to Celtic's rescue.
Trusty acknowledged the warning shots, saying: "Yeah, you can't be cocky, you can't be too full of yourself. Football is a crazy environment where if you give teams momentum, they can take it."
History of second-leg struggles
The USA stopper pointed to past European nights where Celtic made life difficult for themselves on the road. In 2017, Brendan Rodgers' side almost surrendered a 5-0 advantage against Astana in Kazakhstan after falling 4-1 behind before two late goals settled the tie. A year earlier, the Hoops survived a second-leg onslaught from Hapoel Beer Sheva in Israel to scrape through 5-4 on aggregate.
Callum McGregor, James Forrest and Kieran Tierney were on the pitch for both encounters, and that history explains why there is no chance of complacency ahead of Tuesday's return clash in Linz.
Trusty said: "And they're at home next game, so we've just got to go there and play our game. But we'll have the Celtic fans hopefully cheering us on and we'll be good."
Donovan and the defensive partnership
Trusty was quick to single out 19-year-old Colby Donovan, who stepped in superbly at right-back in the absence of Alistair Johnston. The youngster had a taste of Europa League football last season but has now been thrown into the deep end with Johnston facing another spell on the sidelines.
Trusty said: "He's very aggressive. Last year in the Europa League, he and I had a good partnership on the right side, when I was playing on the right side. I think he's really good. He's really young but you think he's a lot older than he is. He's very young and has a lot of potential."
The 27-year-old admitted it is a relief to know Celtic can count on Donovan, adding: "Yes, totally. That's the squad you want. You want people to be able to step in and do a job."
Confidence in the frontline
Trusty also praised the attacking display that secured the first-leg advantage. Camilo Duran scored a double and Benjamin Nygren added a rocket, with Kasper Hogh causing havoc up front for the new £17m frontline.
Trusty said: "It was good showing from the guys up front on Wednesday. That's what you want to see, especially as a defender."
