Tottenham predicted XI vs Getafe: Team news and injuries

Tottenham continue their pre-season campaign this afternoon with a behind-closed-doors friendly against Getafe at Hotspur Way.

Spurs returned to London after a productive tour of New Zealand and Australia and will aim to extend their unbeaten summer run to five games as the Premier League opener approaches.

Roberto De Zerbi's side ended their trip Down Under with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Chelsea, scoring through Richarlison with virtually the last kick of the game despite being reduced to 10 men after Kevin Danso's red card.

Injury concerns persist

Injury issues continue to hamper preparations, and De Zerbi has been cautious with certain players this summer. Destiny Udogie and James Maddison have yet to feature in pre-season, with Maddison reportedly racing to be fit for the Brentford match due to a hip problem.

Micky van de Ven, nearing a new contract, has been sidelined since returning from the World Cup, while Dominic Solanke got his first pre-season minutes against Chelsea.

De Zerbi's caution is justified, as injuries derailed Spurs' season last year. However, building relationships and understanding after heavy summer spending is crucial, and he will aim to field a near full-strength team against Getafe.

Kudus and Kulusevski updates

Encouraging footage showed long-term absentees Mohammed Kudus and Dejan Kulusevski running together at Hotspur Way. Kudus has been out since January with a quad injury, while Kulusevski has not played for over a year after a patella injury in May 2025.

Spurs are being careful with Kulusevski, who is not yet in team training and remains far from match action. Kudus is closer to full fitness and training with the squad, but it seems doubtful he will feature against Getafe.

Mateus Fernandes has returned to training after a calf issue and will be in contention for Saturday.

Next fixtures and predicted lineup

After Getafe, Spurs face Hoffenheim in a double-header of friendlies next weekend before their Premier League opener at Brentford.

Predicted Tottenham XI: Kinsky, Gray, Van de Ven, Van Hecke, Robertson, Fernandes, Tonali, Williams-Barnett, Gallagher, Tel, Solanke

Doubts: Maddison, Udogie, Kudus
