Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a permanent deal to sell centre-back Ashley Phillips to Middlesbrough, with a medical already booked for the 21-year-old.
Deal details
Middlesbrough will pay an initial £7 million, with potential add-ons, and Spurs have also secured a sell-on clause. The Championship club have pursued Phillips all summer and previously signed striker Will Lankshear from Spurs in a club-record deal that could reach £20 million.
Phillips' experience
Phillips has made over 100 Championship appearances across spells with Blackburn, Plymouth, and Stoke. Spurs signed him from Blackburn for £2.5 million in 2023, with a 15% sell-on clause included.

Phillips becomes the latest academy graduate to leave permanently, following Lankshear, Alfie Devine, and Tynan Thompson. Tottenham are close to banking £100 million in outgoing fees, helping offset the £237 million spent on new signings this summer. They expect two or three more arrivals before the window closes.
