One fan wrote on X: 'Y'all be forgetting that man is Mexican we're used to Tony Romo, now we finally get to meet Antonio Ramiro Romo,' referencing the quarterback's legal name and Mexican heritage. The 45-year-old was on the call for the Chiefs-Ravens game on CBS, as Kansas City knocked off their AFC rivals to improve to 2-2.
Romo has been calling games since 2017 and has struck up a strong partnership with legendary commentator Jim Nantz in the booth. Ahead of this season, he spoke exclusively with the Daily Mail about his approach to the role, which he has made his own through his propensity to predict plays before they unfold.
'There's so many notes over the years, honestly, that I've taken. It's like one of those things where there's not a scoreboard… my job is to literally make people at home enjoy it and get the most out of the experience,' Romo said. He added: 'I feel like when I first came in, I kind of wanted to do things a little different, and I think we did a good job, basically being me and trusting my instincts.'
The four-time Pro Bowler also spoke ahead of the season about how he was 'cautiously optimistic' for Dallas. Following a 40-40 tie with the Packers on Sunday night, Dallas is 1-2-1 heading into a matchup with the Jets.
