Arne Slot has attributed Liverpool's heartbreaking defeat to Bournemouth to their packed fixture schedule. The Reds fought back from two goals down to level the match, only to concede a late winner from Amine Adli following a throw-in.
Slot refused to blame his players, instead highlighting the lack of recovery time between games. 'If you lose again in extra time after coming back from two down, then it can be a cruel game for us indeed,' he said. 'I could see my players were tired in the end because we only had two days between the games.'
The Liverpool manager noted that his side had dominated large parts of the match but faded in the final stages. 'The last 10 minutes was probably their best 10 minutes, though we were on their side as well. It's mostly the same players who have to play, and it's safe to say they were very tired,' he added.
The defeat leaves Liverpool fourth in the Premier League, just one point ahead of Manchester United. Slot's side face Qarabag in the Champions League midweek before hosting Newcastle next Saturday.
Slot declined to comment on transfer speculation regarding Andy Robertson, stating, 'No updates in terms of transfers. I never speak in public about transfers.'
