Shearer Demands Newcastle Overhaul with Six or Seven Signings

Alan Shearer has called for a major squad overhaul at Newcastle United, insisting the club needs to ship out and bring in 'six or seven' players this summer. The club legend was left furious after Sunday's 2-0 defeat to Fulham at Craven Cottage, which condemned the Magpies to a bottom-half Premier League finish.

Shearer highlighted a goal from Issa Diop as a clear sign of why a radical shake-up is needed. He criticised Joe Willock, Bruno Guimaraes and the back four for their lack of effort and awareness. 'Not enough energy, not enough hunger to improve,' he told BBC's Match of the Day. 'Eddie needs to refresh and ship six or seven out and get six or seven in.'

Another Newcastle legend, Chris Waddle, echoed Shearer's sentiments, suggesting the club needs 'five or six' new recruits. 'Newcastle’s squad is thin,' Waddle told Boyle Sports. 'They need about five or six new faces to make this squad anywhere near good enough for a top four push again.'

Newcastle already know Aaron Ramsdale, John Ruddy, Kieran Trippier and Emil Krafth are leaving this summer, while Anthony Gordon is expected to depart amid links with Bayern Munich. Sandro Tonali and Joe Willock have also been linked with exits.
