Liverpool have brought in Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen and Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt, while also signing full-backs Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez. These additions follow the departures of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez. Shearer said the signings have been "really interesting" and that there are "so many intriguing bits to look forward to."
Shearer, the Premier League's record goalscorer, also noted the ongoing speculation linking Liverpool with Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak. He suggested the spending of the top four - Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City - could produce a thrilling season, with the chasing pack attempting to break into that group.
He singled out Viktor Gyokeres at Arsenal as another signing to watch, while expressing caution about whether his goalscoring form in Portugal can be replicated in England. Shearer also said he does not anticipate major surprises, mentioning Brighton's prospects and the difficulty facing promoted teams.
The former Newcastle and Blackburn striker recalled his own childhood collecting cards, describing the habit as "addictive." He was joined at the launch by other football legends, including Steven Gerrard and Rio Ferdinand.
