Marcos Senesi has reported to Hotspur Way for pre-season training after joining Tottenham as a free agent earlier this summer.
Senesi Arrives at Hotspur Way
The Argentine centre-back left Bournemouth as a free agent in June and promptly signed with Spurs, joining Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Andry Robertson and Jan Paul van Hecke in moving to the club this summer.
He might have joined his new team-mates in Australia for pre-season this week but was delayed after earning a late call-up to Argentina's World Cup squad, replacing the stricken Leonardo Balerdi.
World Cup Campaign
Senesi made two appearances as the Albiceleste reached the final for the second consecutive World Cup, only to be beaten 1-0 by a Spain side featuring his new team-mate, Pedro Porro. The campaign took him to a total of five senior caps.
Now, less than two weeks after that match, he has reported to Tottenham's training ground for the first time, with the new Premier League campaign getting underway in just over three weeks.
Tottenham have shared photos of Senesi in the club gym, appearing to undergo physical testing while armed with a cup of mate tea.
It remains to be seen when he might make his Tottenham debut, with no plans confirmed for him to join up with Roberto De Zerbi's squad in Australia. There will be plenty of opportunities before the Premier League restart, as Tottenham face Getafe on August 8 and meet Hoffenheim twice the following weekend.
Other Returning Players
Senesi was joined by two team-mates in Enfield, with Rodrigo Bentancur and Pape Matar Sarr also getting their summer fitness regimes underway.
Bentancur endured a bitterly disappointing World Cup as his Uruguay side crashed out in the group stages. He appeared in all three matches as they recorded draws with Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia before losing a must-win fixture against Spain. He has a big campaign ahead after missing long stretches of the previous season with a serious hamstring injury requiring surgery.
Sarr only appeared twice in Senegal's World Cup campaign, which ended at the hands of Belgium in the last-32.
