Salford City have revealed their new home shirt for the 2026/27 season, with co-owners David Beckham and Gary Neville unveiling the design. The predominantly orange kit marks a return to the club's traditional colours, following a fan consultation last season in which supporters overwhelmingly voted to revert from the red strip adopted after the Class of '92 takeover in 2014.
Design and Inspiration
The shirt, which features a black trim, also brings back the original badge with a modern twist that pays homage to the Salford Lads Club. In a video posted on social media, Beckham said: "There we go, a proper shirt. How great is that? I like it, do you think the fans will like it?" Neville replied: "I think they will, yeah."
Beckham, who also co-owns MLS side Inter Miami, was heavily involved in the design. He added: "I think it is going to stand out. But do you know what I love about this? I talk about Miami and I talk about owning the colour pink, and now we’re going to own the colour orange in club football."
Badge and Community Significance
Explaining the badge, Beckham said: "We wanted to take it back to that old Salford logo. And when you look at the history of Salford, the lion is so prominent. But then we wanted to introduce the rose, because the Salford Lads Club is such an important institution in Salford. So it means something to the people and the community."
Season Ahead
The kit was unveiled on Thursday, ahead of Salford's season opener at home to Shrewsbury Town in the Carabao Cup first round. Salford, who have been in League Two since 2019, were beaten 3-0 by Notts County in last season's play-off final. They are among the favourites for promotion this season, having added players such as Luke Molyneux and Macaulay Langstaff from Doncaster Rovers and Millwall respectively.
