Marcus Rashford has won widespread praise for his handling of a pitch invader during Barcelona's Champions League victory over Newcastle United. The 27-year-old, on loan from Manchester United, scored both goals in a 2-1 win at St James' Park.
As Rashford was collecting his Player of the Match award, a fan in a black top sprinted onto the pitch but was quickly tackled by security. The England international appeared unaware of the incident at first, but later showed class by acknowledging the young supporter.
Rashford's double strike, including a stunning long-range effort, marked his first goals for Barcelona. The forward admitted the move has revitalised him after a difficult period at Manchester United. 'It's going good. Obviously learning a lot, it's a new way of football. I'm enjoying it all,' he told TNT Sports.
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick praised the loanee's impact, saying: 'These two goals will help a lot to get Marcus to the next step. It's so important he has the confidence and feels OK.'
