Tyrhys Dolan, the former Manchester City academy star now playing for Espanyol, has expressed his delight at Marcus Rashford's resurgence at Barcelona, claiming the forward was 'treated poorly' during his time at Manchester United. Rashford joined Barcelona on a season-long loan last summer after falling out with then-United boss Ruben Amorim, which led to him being frozen out and eventually forced out of Old Trafford.
Rashford has enjoyed a successful spell in Spain, scoring 10 goals and providing 13 assists in 38 appearances across all competitions. His performances have sparked speculation that Barcelona could make his move permanent by triggering a £26million option-to-buy clause this summer.
Dolan, who signed for Barcelona's city rivals Espanyol on a free transfer from Blackburn Rovers in the same window, faced Rashford in the Catalan derby in January, which Barcelona won 2-0. After the match, Dolan spoke with Rashford and praised his revival. 'It was top to play against him,' Dolan said. 'I'm glad to see him enjoying his football because I think he got treated a little bit poorly at times.'
Rashford faced considerable criticism during his later years at United, including scrutiny over his off-pitch activities and public comments from Amorim questioning his commitment. Dolan added: 'It's difficult because there's so many pressures in football and he's human, but he's absolutely flying for Barcelona and I am happy to see it and a boost in his mental health as well.'
