Former Arsenal defender Lee Dixon has suggested a swap deal that would send Marcus Rashford to Arsenal and Myles Lewis-Skelly to Manchester United. Dixon believes Mikel Arteta would be the ideal manager to revive Rashford's career.
Rashford's return to Old Trafford
The 28-year-old forward is back at Manchester United after Barcelona opted against making his loan move permanent. He could play for his boyhood club for the first time in over 18 months and has been handed the number 14 shirt, hinting at a first-team role.
Rashford has scored six times against Arsenal during his decade at United, showing his ability against top opposition.
Dixon's swap proposal
Speaking to BestBettingSites, Dixon said: "Would I swap them (Myles Lewis Skelly and Marcus Rashford)? You know what, I probably would. And that's nothing against Myles Lewis-Skelly; it's about giving him the freedom to go and expand his game elsewhere."
He added: "With Marcus Rashford, he's a player who needs an arm around his shoulder, and Arteta would be great for him. Give him that love, give him the freedom to play on that left side, and yeah, I'd like to see him in an Arsenal shirt. I have my reservations about whether he's consistently a top-class player, but based on what Arsenal have in the squad now, he'd be a good addition."
United's revamped attack
United's frontline has been rebuilt since Rashford was frozen out by Ruben Amorim, with Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko all arriving. Amad Diallo continues to impress.
Despite links with a permanent exit, Rashford is set to be reintegrated into the squad during pre-season ahead of the Premier League opener.
Lewis-Skelly's situation at Arsenal
Lewis-Skelly recovered from a slow start to the season and ended up starting in the Champions League final. However, he only started five league games, with Arteta preferring him in European competition.
His versatility makes him an attractive option for United, who are looking to strengthen in midfield and at left-back, two positions Lewis-Skelly can play.
