Goals from Kylian Mbappé and Achraf Hakimi in the first half sealed the win for the French champions. Mbappé opened the scoring from the penalty spot after 23 minutes, and Hakimi doubled the lead 10 minutes later with a curling effort into the top corner.
Aston Villa, making their first appearance in the competition, struggled to create clear-cut chances against a disciplined PSG defence. The English side's best opportunity fell to Ollie Watkins, whose header was saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma just before half-time.
