Newcastle United begin their 2026-27 Premier League campaign this afternoon as they host Liverpool at St James' Park, with Matthias Jaissle taking charge of his first competitive game for the Magpies.
The United side that takes the field today looks very different after months of change at the club, most notably in the dugout. Newcastle have made six new signings, with several debuts expected, including Lukas Hornicek in goal.

Sean Steur and Aladji Bamba are competing for a midfield role, while Amar Dedic could start at right-back with Tino Livramento not yet ready to begin matches. Up front, Bazoumana Toure may get the nod on the left, though Harvey Barnes has enjoyed a strong pre-season.
