Newcastle have reportedly decided that Lewis Hall is not for sale this summer amid interest from Manchester United. The defender has been linked with a potential move to Old Trafford to provide cover for Luke Shaw, who is their only senior option at left-back and will be out of contract next summer.

It has been a nightmare summer for Newcastle, who have seen a number of key players leave in addition to former manager Eddie Howe. Bruno Guimaraes officially joined Arsenal earlier on Saturday, following the likes of Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali out of St James' Park. It seems the Magpies are determined to avoid losing anybody else, with Hall set to remain at the club this summer.
According to Chronicle Live, they have made it clear that Hall won't be sold to United or any other club. It comes after the 21-year-old left Newcastle's training camp in La Manga earlier than planned after picking up a minor injury.
Injury and Recovery
It's claimed that Hall and fellow defender Fabian Schar have been granted time away to rehabilitate from their injuries. The England international has been following a distinct training schedule from his Newcastle colleagues in Spain, concentrating on upper-body work. Hall will be absent for the new head coach, Matthais Jaissle, during his first match in charge of the Magpies against Valencia this evening.
Manchester United are believed to be eager to secure a new full-back this summer, with Carrick holding Hall in high regard. Recent claims suggest the defender would welcome a switch to Old Trafford, should a transfer fee be settled upon, but Newcastle have maintained a resolute position following a summer of significant change.
Other Targets
The Red Devils have also been linked with a move for Racing Santander defender Jorge Salinas. Yet the La Liga outfit have made clear the 19-year-old will only depart if his £13.7million release clause is activated. Barcelona have likewise been linked with a move for the defender, having seen an offer turned down earlier this summer.
Shaw remains United's first-choice left-back, with Carrick choosing to deploy Patrick Dorgu in a more attacking role, and the club are eager to bolster that area of the defence.
