Mohamed Salah has joined Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor on a free transfer after his contract with Liverpool expired earlier this summer. The club confirmed negotiations to sign the Egyptian forward, who is currently a free agent.
Salah's arrival in Turkey
Trabzonspor chairman Ertugrul Dogan said Salah is expected to arrive in Istanbul for a medical on Wednesday. The player is scheduled to travel to Trabzon later that day, with details of a welcome program to be announced through the club's official channels.
A storied career
Salah began his career at Egyptian club Al-Mokawloon, where he spent two seasons before moving to Swiss side Basel in 2012. He gained attention in the Champions League by scoring the winner against Chelsea, leading to a move to Stamford Bridge that January.
However, Salah struggled for game time under Jose Mourinho and was loaned out, first to Fiorentina, where he regained form, then to Roma, where he made the move permanent. In 2017, Liverpool signed him, and he became an icon at Anfield.
Record-breaking Liverpool stint
During his time at Liverpool, Salah scored 255 goals in 435 appearances, winning two Premier League titles and the Champions League. In the 2024-25 season, he netted 29 Premier League goals and provided 18 assists, equalling the record for most goal involvements in a season and setting the record for a 38-game campaign.
Trabzonspor, considered the fourth-biggest club in Turkey after Fenerbahce, Galatasaray, and Besiktas, already have players like Andre Onana, Stefan Savic, and John Lundstram on their roster.
