Enzo Maresca, the frontrunner for the Chelsea manager's job, has a history of developing young talent, particularly Cole Palmer, during his time at Manchester City. Maresca coached Palmer in the Under-21s, leading them to the Premier League 2 title and FA Youth Cup, and later worked as Pep Guardiola's assistant when Palmer broke into the first team.
Maresca's approach at City's academy was to instil belief in his players. He told the young squad they were talented but lacked silverware, and set a goal to win the PL2 for the first time. Under his guidance, Palmer scored 13 goals, Liam Delap won league Player of the Year, and James McAtee and Tommy Doyle excelled as playmakers.
Now, Maresca is set to reunite with Palmer at Chelsea, where Palmer has flourished since his move. Maresca's ability to get the best out of attacking players could be key to Chelsea's revival, as he aims to replicate the confidence he gave City's youngsters.
