Manchester United begin their Premier League campaign this weekend with an away fixture against play-off winners Hull City. Manager Michael Carrick has been preparing his squad all summer after earning the job on a permanent basis following a turnaround that secured Champions League qualification last season.
Predicted starting line-up
Goalkeeper Senne Lammens is set to continue as the club's first-choice stopper after establishing himself last season. In defence, Noussair Mazraoui is expected to edge out Diogo Dalot at right-back, with Harry Maguire and Ayden Heaven forming the centre-back partnership as Lisandro Martinez returns from World Cup duty. Luke Shaw is tipped to start at left-back.
Two of United's new summer arrivals are predicted to go straight into the starting XI. Youri Tielemans and Bruno Fernandes are expected to form the double pivot, despite an unconvincing pre-season display against AC Milan. Fernandes, who has been linked with Galatasaray and is reported to have rejected a recent contract proposal from INEOS, will be key in midfield.
Attack options
With Benjamin Sesko enduring an injury-disrupted pre-season, Matheus Cunha is the most likely starter through the middle. Patrick Dorgu, converted into a left-winger by Carrick, has impressed in that role, while Bryan Mbeumo provides width and goal threat from the right.
Man Utd predicted XI vs Hull City: Lammens; Mazraoui, Maguire, Heaven, Shaw; Tielemans, Santos, Fernandes; Mbeumo, Cunha, Dorgu.
