Man Utd: Carrick to Decide on £21m Lucumi as Vitek Deal Secured

Michael Carrick is weighing up whether to meet Bologna's £21m valuation for defender Jhon Lucumi, as Manchester United look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new Premier League season.

The Red Devils have already brought in Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans, and backup goalkeeper Karl Darlow this summer, along with several young talents including Colombian midfielder Cristian Orozco. However, more signings are needed before the transfer window closes.

Lucumi Decision Imminent

Lucumi, a 28-year-old centre-back, is also a target for Juventus, but Italian reports suggest United or Chelsea could gain an advantage by matching Bologna's asking price. The player is reportedly only interested in a move to a 'big club', which could favour the Red Devils.

Lucumi has over 100 Serie A appearances for Bologna, some alongside Joshua Zirkzee before the striker moved to Old Trafford. He was part of Colombia's World Cup squad that reached the round of 16.

United have come into focus for Lucumi after a £60m bid for Lewis Hall was rejected by Newcastle United, who are determined to keep the defender despite several key departures.

Vitek Clause Secured

Goalkeeper Radek Vitek has completed a move to Middlesbrough for £7m, with the deal potentially rising to £14m with add-ons. According to the Manchester Evening News, the transfer includes a buy-back clause, matching rights, and a 35 per cent sell-on clause, providing United with future financial protection.

"The mission is clear: to go to the Premier League," Vitek said after joining. "I think everyone at the club has that mindset, and I want the same thing. Now I just can't wait to get started."
