Manchester United are continuing their goalkeeping overhaul, with Altay Bayindir set to join Celta Vigo on a season-long loan and Radek Vitek on the verge of a move to Middlesbrough.
Bayindir heads to Spain
The Turkish goalkeeper, who started just six Premier League games last season as a back-up to Senne Lammens, will have his wages covered by the La Liga side. Celta Vigo hold an option to make the move permanent for £3.5 million, with United securing a high sell-on clause in the deal.
Vitek returns to Championship
Vitek, the 22-year-old Czech who impressed on loan at Bristol City last season, is set to join Middlesbrough subject to a medical. The deal is worth up to £14 million, and United retain a buy-back option and a 35 percent sell-on clause.
To cover the departures, United have signed Karl Darlow on a free transfer from Leeds United, who made 24 appearances for the Whites last season. They also brought in teenage goalkeeper Kit Margetson from Swansea City at the end of July.
Goalkeeping changes at Old Trafford
These moves continue a period of significant change between the sticks. Lammens arrived from Royal Antwerp last year as an unknown quantity but was promoted to first-choice within months, keeping eight clean sheets as United finished third.
His rise came after Andre Onana's departure. The Cameroonian, signed by Erik ten Hag to replace David de Gea, struggled with errors and was loaned to Trabzonspor, who paid his wages in full. He has since returned to the Turkish club for another season.
