Man United injury news: Martinez, Heaven, Rashford for Como

Manchester United could see their injury worries ease as they turn their attention back to the Champions League this week. Michael Carrick's side travel to face Como on Wednesday night as they look to end their winless run in all competitions.

United were forced to settle for a point on Sunday afternoon as they drew 1-1 with Leeds United at Elland Road. Bryan Mbeumo opened the scoring in the first half, but Leeds hit back in the second half through Dominic Calvert-Lewin. That result means United are now winless in their last six games in all competitions, with their last victory coming in the Champions League last month when they beat Sabah 4-0 at Old Trafford.

Defensive concerns easing

Lisandro Martinez was taken off at half-time against Leeds after being included in the starting XI following his outburst during the week. Carrick said of the defender: "He felt his thigh a little bit." He is a possible return for the Como match on Wednesday 21 October.

Ayden Heaven was not included in the squad for the Leeds game due to illness. Carrick explained: "Ayden has been ill so we had to change just a couple of things really." He is also a possible return for the Como trip.

Marcus Rashford was an unused substitute against Leeds. Carrick said: "Marcus has been carrying a little bit of something so we're managing him to a point." He is listed as a possible return for Wednesday's match.

Other absentees and longer-term injuries

Luke Shaw and Kobbie Mainoo have both missed the last two games in all competitions, with Shaw out due to an unknown injury and Mainoo assessed before the Leeds game. Carrick said: "We'll see on Luke and Kobbie [Mainoo]." Both are possible returns for the Como match.

Patrick Dorgu is out with a thigh injury sustained while playing for Denmark against Wales during the international break. Carrick said: "Patrick came off and looks like he'll be out for probably a number of weeks." His possible return date is late November or early December.

Benjamin Sesko has been battling a shin injury, which has seen him miss the last four games in all competitions. Carrick said: "Benjamin's kind of still undergoing a couple of checks, before we update on timelines or everything, we're just trying to be clear with what that looks like. He's still a little bit further away, but when we know a little bit more, we'll let you know." His return date is unknown.

Manuel Ugarte suffered a serious knee injury while representing Uruguay in the World Cup, with a possible return date of 2027. Tom Heaton has been unavailable so far this season after suffering a hamstring injury before the start of the campaign, with no return date confirmed.
