Man United agree Bayindir loan to Celta Vigo with medical

Celta Vigo are on the verge of signing Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir on loan, according to Spanish outlet Metropolitano. The Turkey international's move is reported to be almost completely finalised.

Announcement expected next week

The La Liga club are hopeful of announcing the deal next week, with Bayindir expected to join his new teammates at a training camp in Italy. A separate report from AS claims the 28-year-old will undergo a medical on either Sunday or Monday to complete the switch, while the Manchester Evening News reported on Saturday that Celta Vigo were leading the race for his signature.

United career

Bayindir joined United in the summer of 2023 during Erik ten Hag's tenure as manager, but has made just 17 appearances in three years at the club. Andre Onana was the first-choice goalkeeper for Bayindir's first two seasons, before Senne Lammens' arrival last summer saw a new number one emerge.

United also signed Karl Darlow as a free agent earlier this summer, adding further competition for places and increasing uncertainty over Bayindir's future.

Pre-season involvement

Despite the ongoing speculation, Bayindir was included in United's squad for Saturday's pre-season friendly against Atletico Madrid in Sweden. Bryan Mbeumo scored twice as United won 2-1 in Stockholm.

It remains to be seen when Bayindir's departure will be confirmed, but all signs point towards the goalkeeper leaving on loan, with his time at Old Trafford drawing to a close.
