Riyad Mahrez scored twice as Manchester City came from two goals down to beat Tottenham 4-2 at the Etihad Stadium, reigniting their Premier League title hopes. The champions trailed 2-0 at half-time after errors from goalkeeper Ederson allowed Dejan Kulusevski and Emerson Royal to score in quick succession.
Pep Guardiola's side produced a stirring second-half response. Julian Alvarez pulled one back, Erling Haaland equalised with his first goal in four games, and Mahrez completed the turnaround with a brace. The victory moved City to within five points of leaders Arsenal.
The comeback was the first time City had won a Premier League match after trailing by two goals at half-time since August 2022 against Crystal Palace. Tottenham, meanwhile, lost a league game in which they led by two goals at the interval for the first time since April 2009.
Haaland's goal was his 22nd of the Premier League season, the most by any player under Guardiola in a single campaign. Only Lionel Messi, Samuel Eto'o and Robert Lewandowski have scored more in a top-flight season under the Spaniard.
