Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign 17-year-old striker Will Wright from Salford City, beating Arsenal to the teenager's signature. The Reds will pay an initial £200,000 for the forward, with additional add-ons to follow.
Arsenal had offered a higher fee and wages to the League Two club, but Wright opted for Liverpool due to footballing reasons and the ability to remain in the North West rather than relocate to London.
Wright is currently undergoing a medical and, upon completion, will join Liverpool's under-21 side under new coach Rob Page. He has been a prolific scorer at youth level for Salford and made his first-team debut at 16 in the EFL Trophy against Wolves U21s last November.
The striker also featured briefly in the FA Cup third round defeat to Manchester City in January and made his League Two debut against Port Vale the following month, later appearing in a defeat to Bradford City.
