Liverpool delivered a commanding performance in Marseille, winning 3-0 to boost their chances of automatic qualification for the Champions League last 16. Dominik Szoboszlai opened the scoring with a clever free-kick, followed by an own goal forced by Jeremie Frimpong and a stoppage-time strike from substitute Cody Gakpo.
The victory was Liverpool's ninth in 11 European away games, and Arne Slot's side looked comfortable throughout. Joe Gomez deputised admirably for the absent Ibrahima Konaté alongside Virgil van Dijk, who made his 350th appearance for the club.
Mohamed Salah returned to the starting lineup after being dropped for the previous European match. The Egyptian had an early chance, flicking an audacious volley just over the bar from Frimpong's cross.
Marseille struggled to impose themselves, with repeated mistakes frustrating manager Roberto De Zerbi. Liverpool's relentless pressing shut down the hosts' options, forcing errors that led to counterattacks.
Szoboszlai's goal came after a lengthy VAR check for a possible handball. Spotting Marseille goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli out of position, the midfielder swept the free-kick low into the net. It was a welcome boost after missing a penalty against Burnley.
Marseille improved after the break, with Mason Greenwood forcing a fine save from Alisson and Hamed Traoré firing wide. But Liverpool sealed the win with Frimpong's own goal and Gakpo's late strike.
