Florian Wirtz scored on his return to Liverpool's side, but the Reds ended their USA tour with a disappointing defeat as Leeds United came from behind to win 4-2 at Soldier Field in Chicago.
Wirtz was handed his first start of the summer by new head coach Andoni Iraola, alongside Alexander Isak, having reported late after featuring at World Cup 2026. He was scheduled to play 45 minutes and made the most of that time by doubling Liverpool's lead shortly before half-time.
Trey Nyoni shone again in midfield, playing a brilliant pass out wide to Jeremie Frimpong, whose cut-back found Wirtz to tap in from close range.
Early lead for Liverpool
Liverpool had gone ahead inside seven minutes. Milos Kerkez flicked on Dominik Szoboszlai's corner, and Luke Chambers was on hand to smash the ball past keeper Alex Cairns.
Leeds had chances through Lukas Nmecha and Anton Stach, but they suffered a setback as Gabriel Gudmundsson limped off with a suspected muscle injury.
Second-half turnaround
Both managers made changes at the break, and it transformed the game. Daniel Farke introduced Brenden Aaronson, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Sean Longstaff, and all three played their part in a stunning revival.
Aaronson pulled one back on the hour mark after capitalising on a Milos Kerkez error. Calvert-Lewin then headed in the equaliser after Joe Rodon flicked on Ethan Ampadu's long throw.
Aaronson turned provider for Longstaff to put Leeds in front for the first time, before Calvert-Lewin struck again to complete an impressive win for Farke's side.
