Jaydan Kamason is more likely to stay at Manchester United for the first half of the season than leave on loan in the final days of the transfer window.
The United youngster impressed in pre-season, recording two assists against Rosenborg in Trondheim, and he scored for the Under-21s in their opening league game against Ipswich Town on Monday night.
Interest from Championship clubs
Michael Carrick was present at Leigh Sports Village for Kamason's strong performance. The right-back has attracted interest from Southampton and there have been loan enquiries from other Championship clubs, but he is currently more likely to stay at Old Trafford for the first half of the 2026/27 campaign.
Kamason spent some time on the sidelines due to two minor injuries last season. He has been back to full fitness for a few months, but keeping the defender at United would guarantee minutes and give him first-team exposure during senior training sessions at Carrington.
Late offers still considered
Carrick would have liked what he saw from Kamason against Ipswich on Monday night. The 19-year-old delivered a mature performance and provided quality both at the back and in attack.
Sources familiar with the situation have indicated that late offers for Kamason in the window would still be considered, but the offer would have to be right for the player, which is why he is now regarded as more likely to stay at United. He will not leave for the sake of it.
January revisit and ambitions
Kamason's situation will be revisited in January. By the winter window, he will have a run of games under his belt and will have spent more time in front of Carrick, which could have a bearing on his future.
After United's dominant pre-season win against Rosenborg last month, Kamason spoke to the Manchester Evening News. "Last season, I unfortunately had two injuries, but hopefully this season will be more positive. I'm just trying to stay fit now and show my ability on the pitch," he said.
When asked about targeting a first-team breakthrough, he responded: "Yeah, hopefully. I'm always trying to aspire to get to that level."
"If I need a few loans or whatever, we'll have to see, but obviously, I'm trying to get to that top level, and that's Man United. You just have to be ambitious."
A United coach said Kamason had "big potential" after his goal in an academy fixture at the Emirates last year. The youngster is talented, but he also puts in the hard work by doing extra work after training sessions to improve his game.
"I always do extra bits on that," he said about his quality in the final third. "Especially with the low crosses, because the low crosses are very effective. But it is just about getting into those positions."
"Once you get into those positions, you have the chance to get it into the box. That's what I want. It's just timing my movement, getting into those positions, then once I get in there, I just know what to do."
